The FAS is served by several technology providers, offering support in a variety of areas of focus and to different audiences. General IT Support by affiliation

FAS, including Harvard College and GSAS

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT)

HUIT is the central IT provider for the FAS, offering email, calendaring, file sharing, and other collaboration tools; academic and administrative technology services; networking, information security; digital accessibility resources; and more.  HUIT provides general computer support through its Service Desk, Walk-In Support Center, Field Support technicians, and online help articles and chat.

Division of Continuing Education (DCE)

DCE’s Academic Technology group provides technological support for both the Extension school and Summer school students, faculty, and teaching assistants, while the PC Support team provides support to the DCE staff and administration

Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS)

HUIT provides general computer support and core academic and administrative technology services for SEAS.  The below SEAS departments provide support in using computer resources to enhance teaching and to facilitate research, audio/visual services, and printers/copiers.

Teaching and Learning Support

Academic Technology Group (ATG), HUIT

Academic Technology for the FAS supports instructors and course staff in the thoughtful use of digital methods and tools in teaching and learning, including course websites, digital course materials and assignments, data science computing platforms, and more.

Education Support Services

Education Support Services (ESS) supports faculty, students, and staff at FAS with services ranging from audiovisual technology support and media production, language instruction support, piano services, and assistive technologies.

Teaching and Learning at DCE

From new instructor training to Canvas, online exams, and more, DCE’s Teaching and Learning team provides pedagogical and technical support for Extension and Summer instructors and Teaching Assistants. 

Research Support

FAS Research Computing

FAS Research Computing (FASRC), operated by the Faculty of Arts & Sciences (FAS) Division of Science, provides Harvard’s largest High Performance Computing cluster, associated storage for the creation and processing of research data, as well as general Research Computing support.

Institute for Quantitative Social Science

IQSS provides social scientists across the university an environment (physical space, events, services) for scholars to convene and collaborate and develops powerful and broadly useful statistical, computational, and analytical infrastructure and tools.

Arts & Humanities Research Computing, HUIT

Arts & Humanities Research Computing, informally known as DARTH (Digital Arts + Humanities), provides consultation, project management, and software development of prototypes for new digital humanities projects as well as continued development and support of grant funded projects.  DARTH provides these services to FAS-appointed faculty using digital methods in their humanities research.

Harvard Library

Harvard Library provides system-wide collections discovery, access, acquisitions, cataloging, preservation & digital imaging services, as well as support for scholarly communications, research data management, and digital scholarship.
